Firefox got a problem that you can solve!
We can say for sure that Firefox is one of the most popular alternatives for Google Chrome.
Firefox is a free and open-source web browser that works on its own rendering engine called Gecko, developed by the Mozilla Foundation. It's written in C++, JavaScript, and Rust, and its repository can find out here in Mozilla-central.
In some articles, you can find out that Firefox is the only alternative for Chromium, but watch out for this kind of comparison. Firefox and Chromium (the engine), or Chromium (the web browser), are two different things, so keep that in mind.
If we look at what's behind the losing of Firefox user-base, we can find out that there is a decline dated up to 2018 when they started to lose their users. If you want to see the information's in the data structure, you can do so right here, Firefox public data report.
At the end of 2018, Mozilla had 244 million, but the current decline of the users is up to 198 million. This isn't something that can be unseen or that we shouldn't be worried about.
You may wonder why all of this when there are all kinds of security, data mining awareness.
Everyone started to focus on their privacy and how their data are used, especially around 2020.
It can be seen in every kind of aspect from cyber-security to "simple" data usage from Facebook, Google, and so on.
Maybe you're asking yourself a simple question that even I asked, "why is that so, when I'm using Firefox, and I moved from Google Chrome or Opera, Edge, etc.,?" The answer is simple, but let me show it to you in a fancy style.
3 main issues took the action against Firefox:
- Google Chrome is the default web browser on Android.
- Microsoft Edge started using chromium (which has a big part of the market share because of Windows).
- Google is promoting on their search engine their web browser Google Chrome.
Now it may be clear that there is a decline in users because of such an element that can be discussed on a much bigger scale.
Isn't it too much for Google to promote their own web browser on their search engine that almost everyone uses?

The same can go with Edge on Windows because if you want to install another browser, Windows will tell you that Edge is super fast and has the best compatibility with Windows.
Even Android phones are distributed with Google Chrome preinstalled, and to my knowledge, it can't be uninstalled as well.
Yes, we still have another protagonist in the game, and his name is Safari, with an 18% market share.
You can check the global stats at StatCounter.
But you need to know that Safari can be used only on Apple devices. However, the problem is also with the Windows devices, which have the highest market share at desktop market-share.
This problem needs to be discussed, and it should be solved by more competent people.
Even if you've been doing some sports, there is a rule to give other athletes the same chances as you've.
Google isn't respecting this rule, and we can see that they don't really care about it.
This is why you should consider what will happen to your choice of a web browser because if this giant falls under these circumstances, there will be nothing left to choose from.
That's why you should support this project because if this will continue, we'll end up with one, maybe two more methods for browsing the internet.
Google and Chromium will be everywhere, and being ungoogled will be a problem.
If you're not a Firefox user, give it a try.
For a couple of days or weeks, maybe even months, this way, you can help Firefox, but not only that but even open-source projects.
